FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why should I join, can't I just train without joining?

Casuarina Storm Swimming Club is one of the Northern Territory’s oldest and most successful swimming clubs. If you are looking for fun, fitness and friendship in a supportive, family-focused environment then join our Club! New members are always welcome. Casuarina Storm is a not-for-profit club and relies heavily on funds raised through membership, fundraising and sponsorship to cover its expenses. Casuarina Storm is an affiliated member of Swimming Northern Territory (SNT). Club members are members of Swimming NT and are bound by the rules and by-laws of that association. Our swimmers can experience all levels of competition; Club Nights, Swimming NT meets and also interstate meets. Squad swimmers who train with Casuarina Storm are required to join the Club so that they will be covered by insurance.

What does the club membership fee pay for?

The membership fee includes a Swimming NT (includes insurance) and Swimming Australia component. The club component helps pays for SNT affiliation ($500), lane hire (at City of Darwin pools), purchase of equipment, presentation night awards, Club Night BBQ and other expenses. Unfortunately, membership fees do not cover ALL our expenses, hence the need to fundraise each year. CLICK HERE for more information about membership categories.

Please note that membership fees are separate to Coach Sam’s fees.

How do I pay for coaching fees?

Coaching fees are paid directly to Coach Sam via the Triple S Swim School portal. Go to the Triple S webpage for more information about the fees for each squad - CLICK HERE

Do you accept NT Sports Vouchers?

The Club does not accept Sports Vouchers; however, our Head Coach accepts Sports Vouchers for coaching fees. If you are new to the Territory and do not have your vouchers, please talk to your child's school or CLICK HERE for more information. Coach Sam will email with details on how pay using Sports Vouchers once you have started training with him.

Do I need to pay the City of Darwin pool entry fee if my child is a member of the Club?

Yes. The entry fee to City of Darwin pools is NOT included in your club membership so you will need to pay for entry to City of Darwin pools. You can pay as you go, or purchase yearly passes and 30 session passes at the pool kiosk.

Is there an entry fee to the Royal Darwin Hospital Pool?

There is no entry fee to RDH pool.

What happens if there is a thunderstorm during training? Does the pool stay open?

All City of Darwin pools follow the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations and the lifeguard on duty will determine when swimmers should evacuate the pool during a storm and seek shelter under hard cover for the duration of the closure (at least 30 minutes). Members should always follow the directions of the lifeguard on duty and/or Coach Sam. Should the pool close, and training is cancelled, parents will be called. Please ensure your contact details are up to date.

Please note: Coach Sam is a qualified lifeguard and follows the same guidelines to determine when there is a need to evacuate at the Royal Darwin Hospital pool and/or City of Darwin Pool.

How do I know if my child is ready to move from a learn to swim program to squad training? Can I try out the squads before I decide to join?

Our Head Coach will assess your child and provide advice. Please email Coach Sam sam@triplesswimschool.com.au to organise a free trial session.

I am a new swimmer, how do I join? Do parents need to purchase a membership as well?

Once you have spoken to Coach Sam regarding the squad you are in, CLICK HERE to find out how to join. Please email our Club Registrar if you are unsure which swimmer category to purchase. Parents of swimmers under 18 will also need to purchase a parent membership ($10 or free for volunteers). This is a Swimming NT requirement. Please email our Club Registrar casuarinastorm@gmail.com if you have any questions.

What times does my squad train?

Squad training times can be found on our website under Coach’s Corner (CLICK HERE) or in Team App.

How many sessions does my child need to attend per week?

The Coach will set guidelines for each squad, but we do understand that children have other commitments and may not be able to attend every session. If your child is a competitive swimmer, the more they train, the better their results will be.

When is the best time to talk to the coach?

If you would like to talk to the coach about your child or any concerns related to training, please email Coach Sam sam@triplesswimschool.com.au.

How do I purchase uniforms?
